It is such a different world for young people now. Fourteen was a much more innocent time for me; I did my homework, listened unquestioningly to my parents' conservative views about life, and blushed awkwardly whenever teachers, boys or those 'cool' girls paid any attention to me. Books were a wonderful escape from adolescence ;)

Thank you for sharing your time and experiences with us Kirsten, look forward to reading your book.Cheryl Thomsonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495198733430494988.post-47133590067285003882013-06-09T12:30:47.228+10:002013-06-09T12:30:47.228+10:00I'm not sure that it is my favourite memory, b...I'm not sure that it is my favourite memory, but at 14 I suffered from 'Bells Palsy' which left the left side of my face paralysed, and at an age where I was beginning to look at boys as more than just a friend, it was a difficult time for me. However I also learnt a great deal, I had to go to hospital outpatients daily for treatment, and I met many amazing people in the waiting room. Many who had life threatening illnesses. Seeing these people and experiencing having treatment myself actually re-inforced my belief to reach out and help others. It was a very momentous time in my lifeCheryl Mnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495198733430494988.post-67390488038990036652013-06-06T14:31:57.350+10:002013-06-06T14:31:57.350+10:00Thank you Kirsten for sharing your wisdom. I lived across the road from my best friend for two years 13/14 and we had the best times. One summers evening we were out the front listening to music, as we did, and we notice two teenage boys a couple of doors down. Turns out they were visiting from Melbourne. Long story short, lets just say we had some great fun exploring the dynamics of teenage relationships. And my BFF and I still laugh about it today!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09651116248452404269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1495198733430494988.post-66716243305184779702013-06-06T14:31:44.797+10:002013-06-06T14:31:44.797+10:00Another wonderful insight into the writing word, t...Another wonderful insight into the writing word, thanks Allison!

I'd love to read Kirsten's book. Fourteen was a huge year - really pushing the boundaries and using my own voice... more so than ever before. Having my ears pierced without my parents' permission was just the small tip of a very big iceberg! Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05680762710638737859noreply@blogger.com
