Our washing machine beeps. Infact it keeps beeping, on and off, until the lid is lifted or it is switched off. Annoying perhaps, but the truth is without such an audible reminder I'd be quite happy to ignore it completely. And sadly the washing hasn't yet figured out how to put itself out on the clothes line.
