The night before the night before the night before Christmas

Twas the night before the night before the night before Christmas, and all through the Fibro, not a creature was stirring... not even me, who should be, at the very least, wrapping presents. Instead, I'm eating festive red and green M&Ms and confessing my favourite karaoke tunes on Facebook. If that's not going to give me a virtual hangover tomorrow morning, I don't know what is...

I had big plans for my last post of the year. I could have done a Four-Corners-style 'Year In Review', with a month by month overview of Life In A Pink Fibro. Could have.

I could have done a Sunrise-style montage, little vignettes of the year that was, set to some kind of heart-wrenching, soul-soaring soundtrack. Could have.

Instead, I'm just going to say thanks for hanging out in the Fibro with me this year. I love it when you pop in to say hi and drink coffee. You are my very favourite style of visitor - the ones you don't have to clean up for - and I thoroughly enjoy your company.

It's been a big year, and 2012 is shaping up to be even bigger (even if Alla Hoo Hoo has moved to Sydney). Can't wait to share it with you.

I'll be back on Sunday January 8, 2012, full of beans and blogging mojo. For sure. I hope that your Christmas and New Year festivities are wonderful and that you also get as much sleep as you need. I have about a year's worth to catch up on, so wish me luck!

In the meantime, there's only one question left to ask...

What's your favourite karaoke tune? The song you bring out every time to bring the house down (or not)? Mine (after several thousand beers) is Son of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield. I know. I'm nuts!

  1. Are you a little bit drunk?
Yay for guests who don't leave a mess! Enjoy your holidays and thank you for keeping me up to date and entertained for a whole year in the Fibro.
Completely hearing you on the best of intentions for your last post of the year. I'm yet to resolve this particular item on my To Do List. (Those montages are a little bit crap anyway.)
Happy days, catch you on the flip side. x

  2. It has been a beautiful year with you Al. Can't wait till 2012!

I don't know if I have a favourite really. Put anything on and I'm there with bells on. Love Karaoke :)

  3. I can pull off an almost perfect Perfect (Fairground Attraction)... but I don't tend to do karaoke in public. It seems like I'm boasting! Unless I'm drunk, and then it's just really hard to explain that, you know, I can actually sing. Caraoke is my preference.

Totally enjoyed hanging out with you this year. Thank you so much for inviting us into your wonderful, fibro space. Enjoy your break. I might have one too... I need my blojo back.

Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful boys.

  7. Sweet Child Of Mine is my karaoke specialty. It's not pretty but I can't help myself.

  8. Merry Christmas Al and thanks for having such a lovely blog for me to visit - I'm pretty fussy and you have never disappointed me (no pressure, hey!). And to finish the year on karaoke is a winner for me (hey, I lived in Japan for two years, I've been known to front up for karaoke at ten in the morning). For the record favourite karaoke tune is Abba's Chiquitita, more for sentimental reasons than any ability to sing it, I used to sing it regularly with my friend's elderly mother when I lived in Osaka and she absolutely massacred it every time, but I loved it.
Thanks again for such a great bloggy year and see you in 2012!

  12. Without a doubt: "These Boots Are Made for Walking" by Nancy Sinatra. Of course, there is a little dance that goes along with it. Even better if I happen to be wearing boots while singing it.

  13. Did you hear that echo? ;-)

  14. I'm with Sally. Go the BOOTS.

Sadly, I sing like Worzel Gummidge would, so that little treat is reserved for my long-suffering family, the people I love most. heh.

Merry Christmas, Pink Fibro! hope the year ahead is everything you want it to be.

  15. I only sing in the car...alone, but very very loudly. I sing everything from Taylor Swift to The Who. It doesn't matter to me.

  16. Anything by Shania Twain. That don't impress me much or I'll get you good probably top the list.

Or What about me. Depends who's there to witness when I inevitably bust out some lame Shannon Noll moves and drop to my knees during the final plaintive chorus.

    Merry Christmas!

I've never done karaoke, but I make noise in a community choir. I love lots of the songs we sing, but Tiddas' Inanay is a favourite.
