My Little Pink Book

Today my credit card bill came in. That, combined with a chance conversation on Twitter last night, reminded me that I have never shared with my Pink Fibro friends the fact that I once wrote a Very Pink Book about how to pay off credit card debt. That's it pictured. Pink, no?

The book came out in 2009 and is still available (at a heavily discounted price, as it happens) at Booktopia.

The brief from my wonderful editor at John Wiley was to provide practical information in an entertaining, readable way. Not an easy brief when you're talking about interest rates, minimum repayments and creeping debt. But, you know, a girl does her best.

So there you have it. A little bit of insight into how I spend my hours when I'm not here chatting to you guys (which could also be viewed as a shameless plug, I guess). And, yes, I'd rather be here chatting to you guys.

But it is a fetching shade of pink.

  3. I was wondering what book you were discussing.

I despise credit cards was always struggling with them, the debit visa is the only answer now.

You're the Alvin Hall of Australia (you may have to google that).

  7. Disclaimer: that is not my hand. Nor my kitchen scissors (heavy duty debt needs heavy duty scissors). And yes @ClaireyH, the debit visa is a good option for a lot of people. :-) Thanks @Kymmie - hope it helps!

  8. Pretty pleased with myself i started the year with my only credit card (a business one) at zero balance & used cash in the sales. Now i have no money in either account, hmmmm. What gets me is young girls getting into so much debt they go bankrupt & then do it all over again. Seriously, slap them!!
You should lecture at schools, before these princesses have to pay/ not pay their own credit card bills. Love Posie

  9. Woo that pink cover is a bit bright for me at this time of the morning. I have successfully slashed my credit card debt by not using a credit card!!! Simple but effective. Or rather husband deals with most financial transactions which while a bit retro is the only way where I'm concerned.

  12. You have a book! And it's still in print!! This deserves much tooting of horns, even if you have to do it yourself. Love the pink--it lets us know your audience right away.

We live in a financial system that exists on credit. It's very hard not to fall into its seductive trap. Looks like a much needed book!

  13. My first major purchase on my credit card at age 20 was a dog. True story. Her name is Emma.
It was all kinds of stupid. But we love her.

  14. I love that pink! That's such a draw card for women. I can't even talk about my credit card debt at this moment. It's dispicable! I need this book. And once we sell our house I'm not going to have 3 credit cards any longer - woo hoo!!!

    See, you are a guru;)

  15. LOL @EmmaK - you could have written the book. Number one tip to start getting rid of CC debt? Stop using the card!

    Thanks for your comments everyone!

  17. Ooo, I need some of that. LOL.
Last week, the check out girl says to me "you get double points if you use your mastercard and then just pay it off right away" and smiled. I replied, "that last bit? ya, that's my problem, I don't pay it off - I'll be using debit, thanks." :)

  18. Shamefully this sister has never read the book and I don't own a copy. *slaps own hand* Am definitely off to remedy that. Terrible person that I am (could do with it after the FIji trip!). I do feel special though. You know, knowing you before the pink cover made you all famous :)
