Weekend Rewind

When I was in about year 9, I was in the school musical, which was nothing like High School Musical, even though it was one...a high-school musical, that is. For our musical, we dressed up in Ye Olde Time clothes and sang Ye Olde Time songs. Think Bicycle Built for Two. Yep, that Olde Time. Not a cute cheerleading outfit or spunky jock to be seen.

So, why am I sharing my teen humiliation with you? Because it's (Olde) Time for Weekend Rewind. And one of those Ye Olde Time songs we sang was all about the light of the silvery moon (not the sun but the moon), wanting to croon (to my honey I'll croon love's tune).... It went on... Honeymoon (honeymoon, honeymoon), keep a smiling in June (not May but June)... etc.

Which is a long-winded way of saying that it's time for Weekend Rewind - that oh-so-fabulous linky where you dust off an old post for some new comment love - and the prompt for this week is June.

Thanks for sticking with me.

All you need to do is to link up a post from June 2010 (or earlier). But because it's February and I'm feeling hot and frizzy, I'll also take a wintery type post. Or a summer post about swimming, water, breezes...Anything cool. Oh, and don't forget the comment bit - please try to visit a few other links to show you care.

To get you started, I'm sharing a post from June 24, 2010, the day that Australia gained its first female Prime Minister under rather breathtaking circumstances. But try explaining that to a six-year-old boy. It was a day that I was very grateful that I knew the basics of chess.

Okay, what have you got for me? Let the Rewind begin [insert fanfare]!

PS: Also, don't forget to join me as I join my other favourite weekend linkys - Maxabella's Grateful and Blog Gems at The King and Eye (Sunday/Monday Aus time). They're both very friendly!

  1. Hi Allison

Winter for me is all about rugging up and indulging in something chocolate based.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Hey Allison,

I've been fizzing to 'legitimately' participate in your blog hop - you see I only started my first tentative posts in June last year and it has been interesting to go back and choose on for this week's hop.

With regards to this, I'd like to be the rabbit in the hammock as much as possible over the next two days!

    x Felicity

  3. You are really starting to challenge me... back in June I only had a blog on cloth nappies and ALL my June posts were about cloth nappies (anyone interested?). I found one in July that was more relevant, will it do?

  4. Oh. My. God. I, too, was in a high school 'Old Time Musical Hall' production! In Yr 12. I have pics and everything and remember it well. I also had a role as the pretend 'person in the crowd' who got up to help one of the teachers with a comedy routine. We had tables set up and tickets were sold - my whole family were there! Good times. I had to paint my face black as well to sing 'Oh, Susanna' and a few other songs.

Oh, you really HAVE taken me back this week, Al!

  5. I had completely forgotten about that! Too funny! By the light... My post is all about matching outfits x

  6. OK, you know I was tired when I linked up - I was redundant: I wrote "at @Squashedmom"

Yawn. Can't wait to be off these antibiotics (they knock me on my ass)!

Hope you cool down soon. Us? We're just warming up from our big freeze here in the Northeastern USA.

  7. Allison - My blog is too young for a winter post. But I tell you what - it is so hot here I can't wait for winter.

So instead of winter I have decided to beach it up!

    Enjoy your weekend.

It is officially your fault I now have "By The Light Of The Silvery Moon" stuck in my head...

  8. Big fan of Olde Time Music Hall! There was I waiting at the Church, Daisy Daisy give me your answer do and the rest. Happy memories!

  9. I am always good for an ear worm. Oh yes, I am.

  10. Oh this is fun! My posts from June 2010 and 2009 were either non-existent or crap. So it's back to June 2008 we go...

  11. I just love you doing this :) June is one of my fav months, not only is it cool and I can have the fire on, but it is both mine and my son's birthdays. June is always good for us xx

  12. The musical I was in that same year was called "Pickles & Puppets" DON'T ASK. lol

  13. It seems like yesterday that I was in my highschool musical. Time really flies! I am visiting from Mama's Little Nestwork. I made some changes and if you are not listed yet in the category you chose then please add your button. Come and visit our featured Nestwork writers starting next week. Any Nestwork member can write. If you are interested just e-mail me or comment in the Nest. Have a great day!

  14. I fell like Dr Who scrolling through to hit the month/date required on my blog list.

Am off to search out somemore like minds on the list. :-)

  15. Linking up one of my favourite's to do with my bus. It has been so hot here this week I am wishing a little bit of winter would come our way to cool things down. Looking forward to reading some posts today. Naomi x

  16. Did that happen in June?? OMG I am getting old faster than i thought, that has flown!

Have you ever seen By The Light Of The Silvery Moon (where the song came from)? The sequel to On Moonlight Bay? I loooove both of them (starring Doris Day and Gordon McRae)

  17. p.s. Forgot to say, this post was originally made on June 24, 2010 :) It has just a touch of winter and talks of jumpers and ice on doors. Hope that gets you cool ;)

  18. Hi Allison, long time lurker, first time participatorer. I wasn't creative at all when I linked up. Next time. xo

  19. Late entry, Al. Bit of schmaltz to see you through the weekend. x

  20. A lovely post - I will have to keep chess in mind for those pesky future politics questions - a great idea!

A Farmer's Wife directed me to the Weekend Rewind - my first time taking part. Hope you don't mind that my post is from July 2010, as I wasn't blogging till then! Thanks for the chance to dust off some old posts, and to check out other golden oldies!

  21. We didn't do musicals when I was in high school. Instead we learnt to do folk dancing one term so that we could perform for parent-teacher open day. I actually enjoyed it a lot and was disappointed when the lessons weren't continued the next term.

  22. Waaaah. I have been trying to get on here all weekend and have been too busy. Will have to try harder not to miss next week!!!

And I LOVE musicals. Any kind. Was in a few in high school. So much fun!!!

Thanks for popping by the Fibro. I love to hear from you!
