10 things I learned this week

I am having a bit of trouble blogging at present. Every single sentence I begin has the words 'packing boxes' in it. Which, I have to tell you, is about as riveting to read about as it is to actually do. So I'm going to try something a bit different. A simple list of things I learned this week. Feel free to add your own in the comments below.

1. Sadly, it is not a shock when the husband is arrested.

2. Little boys carry big thoughts. Mr5 is currently walking around the Fibro taking photos of rooms on his Dad's iPhone. So he 'won't forget'.

3. Uranus rotates totally on its side. Its atmosphere is made up of hydrogen, helium and methane. Mr8 could tell you more, but I'd probably have to stop him somewhere around about the point at which your eyes glazed over.

4. I know where Keith Urban lives. Doesn't that sound crazy stalker.

5. Mr5 knows all the words to 'Someone like You' by Adele. In the sense that we all know 'all the words' to anything - he fills in the bits he doesn't know by making very emotive, vaguely musical sounds, sliding in a consonant when he remembers one.

6. Chanel No 5 doesn't smell as lovely when it is sprayed around the bathroom by an eight-year-old boy making 'potions'.

7. I really, really, really don't want Lance Armstrong to be guilty. Sigh.

8. Those romance novel manuscripts that I have, stuffed in the back of my filing cabinet, may not be as dead as I thought.

9. Even Telstra has good days. My iPhone, which has never worked properly, will be replaced next week with a shiny new one. One that works. Hopefully.

10. The paid work comes first. Always. So if I'm a little bit sporadic over the next few weeks, blame it on a major time squeeze. That, and packing boxes.

Always with the packing boxes.

What did you learn this week?*

*I may or may not have stolen this idea from Maxabella. I think she used to do it and now she doesn't, but maybe I got that wrong. Either way, I hope that you (and she) will forgive me.

  1. I learnt that you can find comfort from a stranger in the dried pasta section at Franklins.

    1. Pasta is like that. It brings people together.

  2. I learnt that when you leap you do find your wings on the way down. Or is that up?

Either way, leaping feels damn good.

  3. I learnt that even when your intentions are good, the recipient may not necessarily appreciate them.

I also learnt that green paper gets a fire going much better than white paper.

I've probably learnt a few other things too but my head hurts so thinking right now is hard work.

Lastly, unfortunately I can also say that Point 1 above on your blog is no longer a surprise for me either! Actually its a surprise when he hasn't been ... lol!

  4. I learnt that it is not a good idea to tackle stairs in the rain.

That endone is my friend, but is not friendly enough.

That voltaren plus gives me.. too much information!

  5. I've learnt that even though you don't allow your hubby to kiss you when he has a cold, you're going to catch it anyway :(

  6. I learnt that lasagnes are the most time consuming thankless meal to cook when in your family 2 people like it, 1 is ambivalent and 2 hate it. I never lean though.
I also learnt that the top half of your hatchback rear window can actually fall off your car. And that it makes for a memorable morning.

  7. Good luck with the packing and the romance novels. I'm stealing this to hopefully get my blogging mojo back.

  8. I learnt that puppy constipation can be very expensive.
I learnt that if I marry an extremely tall man and have his offspring, I will be the shortest person in the house.
I learnt that no matter how old you get, how smart you are, how good you are at your job, your mother will always know what you haven't cleaned the oven and the laundry is a bombsite.

  9. I learnt that you shouldn't rub your eye after chopping chilli. Or change your daughter's nappy. Poor love.

But don't tell anyone. This will probably turn into a blog post next week. x

  10. I learnt (from that Alec Baldwin's girlfriend's name is Hilaria. That pleased me no end.

  11. I learned (many times over) that then you have to UNpack those blinking boxes too! Good luck Al (Sal NHS86)

  12. I learnt that some mums are STILL bullying other mums over parenting decisions, by starting sentences with "You should be..."

  13. I've also learned that other people's lessons can make a person laugh out loud. Thanks so much everyone - I needed a laugh today!

  14. Arrgh! Packing! I should be packing, but finding any excuse I can not to. There have been so many moves! And I agree about the paid work. It always comes first. There isn't that much of it yet, but when I get it gets done and done well.

This week I learnt that I lost my smiles. It's gonna be tough work to get them back.

This post would be great for linking up for Things I Know over at my blog. If you want. No pressure :-)

  15. I've learnt that my Dyson can suck the grout right outta new tiling.
I've learnt that I'm not as particular as I used to be 'cause I don't care that much about it!

  16. Alas, this week I learnt that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can't always make things work out and it has broken my heart!
I also know where Keith Urban lives it is right next door to my cousin! and I'm not stalking I'm just visiting family!!!!

  17. Bless Mr5! My two know the words to most of Adele's songs too, they're moody little things.

This week I learned that sometimes it's important to put yourself first for a day, so you have the energy for the next 150 days when you're third or fourth at best.

  18. I know all about packing boxes, it robs you of hours of time ..Especially if you start reflecting as you decide to pack or toss..
    I learned something I wish I hadn't but I am not alone.

  19. I learnt that sometimes life throws you lemons but you can't let the little things in life bring you down you just have to hold your head high and keep pushing forward and hope that one day it will all come together... when its meant to.

  20. No 2. I did that when I was around the same age.
    No 7. Ditto

What else have I learned? Time and patience. The more time you have the more patient you can be.

Thanks for popping by the Fibro. I love to hear from you!
