Weekend Rewind - Special Wedding Edition

So I watched the wedding. Worried about whether Pippa would make it up the steps without falling over her fishtail frock (great dress but, seriously, will she be able to wear it again?). Wondered whether Harry was channelling the great Biebs with that hairdo. Wished I could read lips so that I could share all those little asides between the (now) royal couple.

Say what you like, but it was lovely to see all those Brits wave their flags and wear their funny hats with pride. Speaking of hats, was that parade of hats into the Abbey among the most ridiculous you've ever seen? Then again, what would you wear to a Royal Wedding? Talk about dress stress...

Now that the last pieces of red, white and blue confetti have hit the dust, it's time to get back to the important things in life, like Weekend Rewind. The basics remain the same: follow the Fibro if we are not already friends, link up an old post from your archives to give it a good airing, and please remember to visit as many other linkers as possible to share the comment love. One small thing, it would be very good if your post was at least a day older than today. Weekend Rewind is an archive linky. We're not big on ceremony (though we do love a bit of pomp), but we do like people to play along like they mean it.

Ahem.

The theme for this week's mixed tape is, of course, weddings. But I draw a loose bow. If you have a post about a ceremony, a relationship, some love, link it up. Heck, even bunting will do. I love bunting. You might even say I'm grateful for bunting (wink). Posts about bunting are more than acceptable. Our theme song for the week: White Wedding by Billy Idol, in honour of Pippa Middleton, best-looking bridesmaid in Britain. "Hey little sister, what have you done?..."

Okay. That's it. Ready, set, Rewind!

  1. sigh ... I have nothing. I do love your post though. It made me laugh. I will sit this one out because I haven't blogged about weddings or love or bunting.

  3. I've just gotten home from watching the wedding with 7 of my foodie friends. But that's not all. Wearing wedding/bridesmaids dresses and eating english fare. I made yorkshire puddings. The night was FABULOUS. And I'm not even a royal!

Love your rewind theme this week and had a giggle about all those ridiculous hats. The most strange were Beatrice and Eugenie's. For certain!

  5. Those hats were wild. I only caught a little bit of the broadcast this morning before leaving the house for work. One of the hats looked kind of like a light pink headband that turned into the outline of an ornate bow and then ended with the ends of a ribbon sort of. Definitely fun to watch.

  6. I always felt sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie. Those hats just heap more pity onto the existing pity pile.
I'm realising how infrequently I write about love as I struggled to find a post. But I've got one and it's had a nip and tuck so let's roll.
I had fun last week. I think I 'get' the blog hop now.

  7. Well, looking over my archives I realized I have absolutely nothing about weddings, but do have this sad post about my mother missing my father on what would have been their 52nd Anniversary. It's about love and what had been a long and happy marriage, so I figured that was close enough.

Once again, sorry to bring the mood down.

  8. hmm, I feel a little too "new" to play along with a rewind bloghop - i would play for 4 weeks and then would have caught up on myself! shame. a little longer and I will be able to play too

  10. Unfortunately I am a bit too new to blogging to have anything about weddings older then, say... yesterday. (I did post a wedding related blog yesterday wishing Kate and Wills the best, and sharing some pics of my own wedding). Maybe one day soon I'll have joined the illustrious ranks of the veteran blogger. And by 'veteran', read 'older than two weeks in'. Have fun! Feel free to check my blog out regardless. I'll be playing along here soon. :)

  11. Didn't get a chance to watch the wedding, but got to see some of the photos. Her dress was very pretty but not quite what one would expect for a Royal Wedding. Although, I do have to say I like Kate's style. I hope it was ok to add a post to the rewind that was only a few days old, I just thought others might like the graphics.

  12. I am actually surprised at how much I loved watching the wedding. Even the Tsunamis were glued until well past their bedtime (they stayed up until the rings were viewed). It's funny, but as 'magical' and 'large' and 'resplendant' as the wedding was, I can't help but think that Kate and Pippa in their chosen (beautiful) dresses were pitching more at an intimate wedding with close friends and family. Thank god for the train. x

  13. that's very funny - I just left a comment over at maxabella's regarding her role in my bunting-obsession!!
And actually I really did enjoy the whole royal-wedding-palava much more than I anctipated...it was just good clean fun!
    And that's nice sometimes :-)
    have a great weekend
    xxxCate

  14. My first entry to your rewind and I've had to go back a year to find something other than yesterday's wedding. I've interpreted your theme very loosely, even so.

  19. I've been thinking, they say something like 2 billion tuned in for the wedding around the world. With such a lot you have to wonder why? I have a theory that after GFC, Tsunami, Nuclear meltdown, Earthquakes, War, Middle east and Africa crises and revolutions - the world is screaming for something positive. A bit of love and pomp and ceremony and theatre - it was like global therapy. Happy little love diversion.
