Starting Out: The first series

The first series of Starting Out is complete - I know that eleven is not the roundest number in the world, but there you have it. I'd like to thank all the wonderful writers who contributed and shared with us the benefits of all that wisdom and all those lessons. I realised that there's no one spot to find all the posts at the Fibro, so I have created a little home for them here:

Megan Blandford

Anna Spargo-Ryan

Karen Charlton

Kelly Exeter

Sarah Ayoub

Jenn J. McLeod

Gabrielle Tozer

Maxabella

Jane Copeland

Ros Baxter

Juliet Madison

If there's a topic you'd like covered in the next series of Starting Out, later in the year, let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do! And sign up for my newsletter (see up there on the right) for more, exclusive insider tips.

  1. Such a great series Al, thanks for asking me to be part of it (and in such wonderful company).
For part two, can you do a "middlings" series? Like, when you have some clippings (or perhaps your first book out), but you seem to be forever wandering on struggle street? How to keep up middling mojo or some such?

  3. I can't tell you how useful this series was for a new writer like me. Thank you for putting together such a comprehensive line up of material and talented writers. I have a few ideas for your next series which I'll send you in an email. Thanks Allison and everyone who was involved. Invaluable insights and content that I will continually refer back to as my writing journey progresses.

  6. This is a fantastic idea! I've started reading the first couple (in amongst children asking for food and attention...) and can't wait to read them all. I feel like all the writers are talking directly to me as they are the exact questions/feelings I've been having... Thank you!
